All of a sudden it feels like winter. But we’re not ready to give up and go inside just yet. Many of D.C.’s eateries keep their patios open all winter long. Here are some of our favorite outdoor setups that are not only warm, but also have a cozy atmosphere.
Iron Gate (Dupont):
Mediterranean food in a secret back garden with your own personal fire, twinkly lights, and cascading greenery.
Maydan (14th Street Corridor):
Taking over the whole alley, Maydan brings its cozy dining vibes outside with plenty of heat lamps and blankets.
Stable (H Street):
The ultimate hygge experience. Eat fondue under toasty heat lamps outside at this Swiss restaurant.
O-Ku Sushi (Union Market):
A heated rooftop with great sushi and cocktails right by Union Market.
Makan (Columbia Heights):
11th Street NW is full of year-round streeteries and this Indonesian spot is one of the best. But Queen’s English, The Coupe, and El Chucho all have heated outdoor options as well.

Lapis (Adams Morgan):
This Afghan restaurant has a brand new covered and heated patio that goes perfectly with their veggie stews or pumpkin spice cocktail.
Officina (The Wharf):
This Italian rooftop restaurant has fire pits, heaters, and a great view.
Purple Patch (Mt. Pleasant):
This permanent streetery is whimsically decorated and well heated with good ventilation.
St. Anselm (Union Market):
Get your own heated dining cubby at this brunch spot and steakhouse. Its French sister restaurant Le Diplomate has a similar setup.
Lutéce (Georgetown):
The outdoor heaters and blankets make dining at this French restaurant feel lux. Well, that and the incredible food.
