Voter Guide: The Delegate Race

Washingtonians will head to the polls on June 16 for a primary election that includes races for mayor, D.C. House Delegate, and an at-large seat on the city council, along with a special election for a separate at-large council seat. Voters in Wards 1, 3, 5, and 6 will also select candidates.

This is the first open race in decades for D.C.’s non-voting delegate seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Eleanor Holmes Norton, who has held the seat since 1991, announced she would not run again.

The Democratic candidates include two sitting D.C. Councilmembers, At-Large Councilmember Robert White and Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto, along with Kinney Zalesne, Trent Holbrook and Greg Jaczko. Kymone Freeman is running under the D.C. Statehood Green Party. Denise Rosado is running as a Republican.

City Cast DC sent a questionnaire to each candidate asking about their campaign platforms and what they see as top priorities for the city. We also included some multiple-choice questions on how they would prioritize certain issues. See their responses below.

Note: Some candidates chose not to answer particular questions, which we left blank. Candidates with no responses did not reply to our questionnaire despite multiple attempts to reach them.
