Your Guide To DC In June 2025
June is when I start getting psyched to live in D.C. again. Long sunny days, free festivals, local music, and farmers markets galore. Here’s what we’ll be prioritizing this month.

June is when I start getting psyched to live in D.C. again. Long sunny days, free festivals, local music, and farmers markets galore. It’s also when I start getting major FOMO. Here’s what we’ll be prioritizing this month amid a seemingly endless stream of activities.
🎞️ Watch International Films at DC/DOX 2025
Choose from 100+ features and short films from around the world. We’re excited for “ Edge of Daybreak,” about an R&B band that started in a Virginia prison. You can get an all access pass for $200 or catch individual films for $15 a pop.
💃 Take Your Moves To The Georgetown Waterfront
At first, dancing among strangers in broad daylight may seem cringe, but once you realize no one is watching, you’ll have a blast. The series kicks off with an African and Latin dance night on June 10. There are free instructions from 6 - 7 p.m., followed by social dancing.

🌈 Follow the Masses To WorldPride
It’s finally here! Even if you don’t want to brave the parade crowds, there are hundreds of other events to try — from film screenings to dance parties to protests. Here are our recs for the best events and how to plan your perfect Pride.
🎶 Dive Into Local Music at Home Rule Music Fest
This free outdoor music festival at The Parks at Walter Reed celebrates D.C. music and culture with over a dozen performers in genres ranging from jazz to go-go. Grab food from the vendors and stop to chat with community organizations to make for the perfect wholesome D.C. day. It goes down from 1 - 9 p.m. on June 21.

🍓 Pick Up Local Strawberries at the Farmers Market
Second only to tomato season is strawberry season (IMHO), and it’s peaking right now. Yes, they are $7 a pint, but unfortunately, are so worth it. Combine that with some fresh rhubarb crisp? That’s where I’m trying to be all month long.
👗 Get Dressed Up and Go To Sundress Fest
One of the most fun day parties of the year — Sundress Fest — is happening at Wonderland Ballroom on June 1. Sundresses are required (regardless of gender). So beg, borrow, or steal one from a friend and show a little leg. ;)
