Falcicchio Emails Contradict Story

Internal emails acquired by City Paper show that John Falcicchio, Mayor Muriel Bowser’s former top aide, continued working nine days after a D.C. government employee accused him of sexual harassment. The Mayor’s office had said that Falcicchio had been placed on administrative leave, but this new discovery raises questions about how the city handled the allegations. [City Paper]

A Plan for Dealing With Gun Violence

U.S. Attorney for D.C. Matthew Graves says his office is targeting the small group of people that are driving the local surge of gun violence. A 2022 study found that as few as 500 people are responsible for 70% of the city’s shootings. [DCist]

Gender Pay Gap at DC Open

The tennis tournament DC Open is under fire for its huge inequity in prize money for the men’s and women’s tournaments. The award is $2,178,980 for the men, while only $780,637 for women winners. Tournament officials said that they are committed to equal pay by 2027. [Washington Post 🔒]
