District Dogs Flood Exposes DC’s Flaws

The city is still dealing with the fallout of the flood at a D.C. dog daycare last month that led to the deaths of 10 dogs. The tragic event revealed a lot about the dysfunctional state of D.C.’s 911 call center, among other city agencies. Mark Seagraves has been following the story and gave us a look behind the Bowser administration’s troubling reaction to the news. [City Cast DC 🎧]

Masks Are Back In MoCo

A class in Montgomery County is required to wear masks for over a week (except when eating or drinking) after at least three people tested positive for COVID-19. Over-The-Counter Narcan

As of this week, opioid overdose medication is available over the counter across the DMV. Narcan is a nasal spray that’s easy to use and is extremely safe, even if the unresponsive person hasn’t actually overdosed. Some harm reduction advocates recommend everyone who can afford Narcan should have it on them in case of emergency. [WTOP]

An All-Out Brawl

In Montgomery County, the school district and police are conducting independent investigations into a brawl last week after a high school football match. Students from the same two Bethesda schools got into a fight in 2021 as well, also after a game. [WTOP]

Who's Responsible for the District Dogs Flood?

We chatted with reporter Mark Segraves about what really happened when District Dogs flooded last month, who’s to blame, and what it says about the state of D.C.’s emergency response agencies.

Some very ambitious George Washington University students made a TikTok of themselves moving a couch to their dorm via Metro. The ordeal included lifting it over a high turnstile and making room for Nats game crowds.
