Hey neighbor, McDonald’s is dropping a new sauce – Mambo sauce – as in D.C.’s signature sweet-and-sour dipping sauce. Tasters say it’s authentic, but they can’t even spell it right, so we’ll just have to see about that. Drops in stores Oct. 9.

Unemployment Office Braces for Shutdown

With a government shutdown looming at the end of the month,  D.C. is preparing for a possible surge in unemployment claims. D.C.’s Office of Employment Services says furloughed workers can start applying for unemployment insurance the day the government shuts down. [WUSA9]

Metro Considering Service Cuts

Metro warns layoffs, a hiring freeze, and devastating service cuts are possible if the agency can’t close a projected $750 million budget gap. Metro says it may have to start planning cuts this winter, but budget impacts won’t go into effect until July. It says the pandemic, inflation, and a decline in ridership are to blame. [NBC4]

Georgetown Streateries Petition

Georgetown residents are calling for “common-sense re-adjustments” to Georgetown’s streateries, like certain design standards and guidelines for seasonal removal of patio seating.
