What's CITY Talking About?

Devastating Homicide Milestone

D.C.’s acting police chief says there may have been as many as 209 homicides already this year. The last time D.C. recorded its 200th homicide before October was in 1997. More Purple Line Trouble

Construction of the Purple Line is damaging roads in Montgomery County, and officials are asking the contractors to fix the resulting potholes and road closures before the project is completed in 2027 (or so they say). When it’s done, the 16.2-mile light-rail transit line will stretch from Bethesda to New Carrollton. [MoCo360]

Terrorist Attack on Cuban Embassy

Someone threw two Molotov cocktails (a crude fire grenade) at the Cuban embassy on Sunday. Cuba’s ambassador to the United States is calling the attack an act of terrorism that was part of a pattern of attacks directed at Cuban overseas missions. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Local police, the Secret Service, and the State Department are all investigating the incident. [NBC4]
