Kaiser Strike Impacts DC
Around 180 pharmacists and optometrists in the DMV are striking alongside 75,000 of their Kaiser Permanente colleagues across the nation. It’s the largest strike by healthcare workers in years. The workers are protesting conditions they say are stretching staff too thin to serve patients well. [DCist]
Taxpayer-Funded Scoreboard
D.C. has agreed to spend millions of taxpayer dollars to update Nationals Park, including constructing a new scoreboard. The new scoreboard alone cost around $20 million. Events D.C. says the negotiations are a standard part of their lease agreement. [Washington Business Journal]

Custodians March For Their Rights
A large group of office building custodians marched through downtown on Monday. They were calling for higher wages and better benefits in their new union contract. The current contract expires on Oct. 15. [WTOP]

Everyone loves a party, but not everyone wants that party outside their home. Some Shaw residents want a three-year moratorium on new bars or nightclubs on 9th Street between T Street NW and U Street NW. NBC Reporter Mark Segraves talked to business owners about their party stance.
