District Dogs Flooding Update

The director of D.C.’s 911 call center says “there was no delay” in responding to the District Dogs flooding in August, in which 10 dogs died. The director says firefighters were dispatched immediately after the first 911 call, but didn’t explain why they arrived on the scene 23 minutes later. [Washington Post 🔒]

CVS Shoplifting Continues

There’s been a rash of shoplifting at the CVS in Columbia Heights that have left the shelves barren. A spokeswoman for CVS says they have no intention of closing any of their D.C. stores, but will be working with police to identify and stop new thefts. This is part of a string of CVS shoplifting cases across the city. [WTOP]

48 Arrested in Operation Trident

Almost 50 D.C. fugitives with outstanding warrants were arrested last week as part of a multi-agency operation called “Operation Trident.” Most of the fugitives faced gun-related or violent crimes and had failed to comply with the terms of their supervised release. They will now go before a judge who will decide if they must remain in custody. [WTOP]
