City Cast DC with Michael Schaffer
Inside the redone National Museum of Women In the Arts
October 19, 2023
Hey, neighbor! D.C. was ranked one of the country’s most “food-forward” cities, surpassing even New York. This doesn’t necessarily mean we have the best food, the survey was based on the diversity of restaurants, and residents' interest in a wide array of foods. So, give yourself a pat on the back!

What's CITY Talking About?
Rental Assistance Program Quickly Overwhelmed
D.C.’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) closed applications in just 10 days due to high demand. The program had closed earlier in the year for the same reason and reopened on Oct. 1, but quickly shut down again. ERAP will reopen for new applications on Jan. 1. [The DC Line]
Voter Hack Numbers Update
The D.C. Board of Elections hack earlier this month has impacted fewer than 4,000 records, instead of the originally-suspected 600,000 lines of data. Investigators have determined that hackers accessed voter records from 2019 through early 2022. When the review is completed, they will reach out to those impacted. [DCist]

Pro-Palestinian Protesters Arrested
Hundreds of activists occupied the Cannon Rotunda, a Congressional building near the Capitol yesterday, calling for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict. Hundreds more were gathered outside. Capitol Police say they arrested about 300 demonstrators, who will be charged with illegally protesting inside a House Office Building. [Washington Post 🔒]

That’s all for today!
