What's CITY Talking About?

New Lawsuit Against Foggy Bottom Shelter

A second lawsuit has been filed attempting to block D.C.’s plans to build a homeless shelter in a former George Washington University dorm. The anonymous neighborhood group behind the suit filed a similar one this summer. The shelter would specifically help people with medical conditions and mixed-gender adult families. The plaintiffs claim the city skirted zoning laws and that it will harm local business owners and residents. [City Paper, City Cast DC 🎧]

Hearing on Sexual Harassment Policy

Councilmember Anita Bonds held a hearing examining the District’s new sexual harassment policy. The hearing avoided looking into how agencies have been investigating previous sexual harassment complaints and instead looked ahead at what the new policy will do. Bonds said she would consider turning the District’s sexual harassment policies into legislation. [Washington Post 🔒]

Dognappings!

Three French Bulldogs were stolen at gunpoint in Southeast D.C. this week. The thieves took Chewy, Coco, and Buttercup from their owner who was walking them. The police are looking for the three suspects in the armed robbery. [WTOP]

City Cast DC interviewed a transportation reporter who thinks the plan has real flaws, and he has some ideas for how to improve it. [ALXNow, City Cast DC 🎧]
