📸 DC adds dozens of speeding cameras
November 22, 2023
Morning, neighbor! If you’re looking to volunteer this Thanksgiving, both Bread for the City and Everything But the Turkey are still looking for people to help prepare and distribute their holiday food packages.

What's CITY Talking About?
New Speed Cameras
DDOT is installing 29 new speeding cameras in areas where speeding has been identified as a safety issue. The cameras will be placed on Florida, Rhode Island, and New York avenues along with many others. Warnings will be issued for the first 30 days, then speeders will be issued tickets upwards of $100. Fentanyl Drug Bust
Federal officials caught a drug ring that prosecutors say was lacing counterfeit pills with fentanyl and selling them to unsuspecting buyers in D.C. The two-year investigation began after a young woman in D.C. overdosed and died two years ago. Latest statistics show that fentanyl overdoses outrank homicides as a top killer of Washingtonians. Southeast Library Renovations
The library closest to Eastern Market is closing for renovations in January. The $33 million renovation will expand adult seats in the historic library, add study space, book shelving and computers, and will take at least two years. [DCist]
