BID Asks Metro to Delay Red Line Shutdown
The Downtown D.C. Business Improvement District has asked Metro to postpone the planned shutdown of several Red Line stations in December, saying that the closure will interfere with a critical sales tax revenue period. The shutdowns are scheduled for Dec. 18 through Dec. 30, chosen because ridership is typically lower then. Metro wants the safety repairs completed before students return to school in 2024. Teachers’ Union Wants Action from DCPS
The Washington Teachers’ Union is once again in the middle of fraught negotiations with D.C. Public Schools. WTU accuses the city of dragging its feet on a new contract. Teachers want the new agreement to focus on staff retention, salary increases, diversity, and safety concerns. [DCist]

New Solar Panel Goal
The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments has set an ambitious goal of installing solar panels on 250,000 rooftops in the DMV by 2030. MWCOG is prioritizing environmental solutions since surveys show climate change is a top concern for constituents in the area. [DCist]
