Hey, neighbor! It’s no secret eating out in D.C. has gotten more expensive, but exactly how much more? Washingtonian ran the numbers and, well, it’s depressing. In 2019, a burger at Le Diplomate cost $18, now it’s $24. And that’s not even the worst offender.

The Harrington is Closing

SNAP Boost Canceled

The city government has decided to no longer allocate $40 million in surplus funds toward the District’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as originally planned. The Bowser administration says the city needs the money for other programs. Several D.C. Council members have expressed outrage at the decision. Roughly 140,000 District residents rely on SNAP. Could We Lose the Caps and Wizards?

A group of Virginia state lawmakers reportedly met yesterday to discuss a potential deal to bring the Washington Capitals and Wizards across the river. Apparently, they are considering building the teams a new facility in Alexandria’s Potomac Yard neighborhood. Monumental Sports, who owns the two teams, has just asked D.C. for $600 million to spiff up Capital One Arena. [Washington Post 🔒, City Cast DC 🎧]
