🍴What’s new at DC Restaurant Week
January 10, 2024
Hey, neighbor! What does your D.C. neighborhood block say about you? Apparently, mine is “poor life decisions,” so, that's a bit discomforting.

What's CITY Talking About?
Extreme Weather School Closures

Hoyer 2024?
Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer will be seeking reelection this November, squashing rumors of his potential retirement. Hoyer has served as one of Maryland’s reps since 1981, and was formerly the Democrats’ second most powerful official behind Nancy Pelosi. [Washington Post 🔒]
Homelessness Nonprofits Get Funding Cut
D.C.’s Department of Human Services is demanding budget cuts at various homelessness nonprofits that provide city services or receive government grants, citing mysterious “spending pressures.” Exact amounts are being hashed out, but non-profit staffers say they’ve been forced to consider lay-offs or abandoning crucial housing programs just as the coldest months of winter arrive.
