What's CITY Talking About?
Bets Are Off for GambetDC
The DC Office of Lottery and Gaming is handing over its gambling app, GambetDC, to a private operator after years of technical problems and low popularity amongst residents. The app has brought in only $4.3 million of the $84 million it was projected to net since its inception in 2019. DC Lottery head Frank Suarez hopes the advertising pull of private operators will help the District compete with Maryland and Virginia. [Washington Post 🔒]

New Ticket System for Old Rag
After a multi-year pilot program, Shenandoah National Park is permanently requiring hikers to get day-use tickets to visit Old Rag between March and November. The move aims to protect trail ecosystems from overcrowding during the peak season. Tickets will cost two dollars and cannot be purchased day-of. [WTOP]
Anacostia Daycare Destroyed
An Anacostia daycare is fundraising to keep services running after its building was severely damaged in a gas explosion last week. The Baby Einstein Child Development Center staff smelled the gas leak and quickly evacuated all 16 students to safety. Director Regina Snead now looks to raise $250,000 on GoFundMe to continue care off-site. [DCist]
