What's CITY Talking About?
Restaurant Openings > Closings
The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington reports that 100 new restaurants opened in D.C. in 2023, a 6% improvement from 2019. We may feel down after the barrage of closings in late 2023, but clearly, things are looking good. [Axios]

Columbia Heights CVS Closing
The CVS on 14th Street NW is closing on Feb. 29. Shoppers report shelves there had been barren for months in response to theft. CVS said it’s closing because of “market dynamics” and “population shifts.” [NBC4]
Bus Lanes on H Street NE
The city has released a plan to add bus and streetcar-only lanes to H Street Corridor. The plan also widens sidewalks in an attempt to reduce boarding times and traffic accidents. [X, formerly Twitter]
CCDC Guest Diversity in 2023
City Cast just published podcast guest demographic data for podcasts in its 11 cities, including D.C. It’s our way of holding ourselves accountable to representing the city authentically. We’ve got some room to improve, but we’re determined to undertake this project and wanted to share these stats with you. [Nieman, City Cast DC]
