👮 Crime Conspiracy at Chinatown Walgreens
February 15, 2024
Morning, neighbor! Eater just came out with a list of D.C.’s most lovable dive bars, but some of my tried-and-trues are definitely missing. Do you agree with the list? What are your fave D.C. dives?

What's CITY Talking About?
Walgreens Crime Ring
The manager of the Chinatown Walgreens has been arrested for allegedly helping orchestrate at least four robberies at his store. The most recent attempted robbery resulted in a security guard shooting a suspect. Officials say the robberies “invoked fear” in the Chinatown community, which has seen a spike in crime. Shootout in Southeast
Three MPD officers were wounded in a shootout in Marshall Heights on Wednesday. The suspect barricaded themselves inside an apartment and fired at officers who were serving an animal cruelty warrant. [WTOP]
As You Were, As You Are
As You Are, a popular queer bar and cafe on Barracks Row, crowdfunded $150,000 in three days to avoid closure. The owners started a GoFundMe after realizing their debt made them ineligible for city grants. The bar is a beloved spot in Capitol Hill, where LGBTQ spaces are sparse. [Washington Post 🔒]
The Cams on the Bus
The city will install cameras on school buses in March to identify cars that illegally pass while students get on or off. Many parents have been pushing for this change to protect vulnerable students, while opponents have raised concerns over increased surveillance. [NBC 4]
