Airports Bring Facial Recognition to DC
DCA and BWI airports are now using facial recognition technology to improve and speed up airport security. The technology has already been launched and piloted by the TSAPreCheck program. Critics have voiced concerns over privacy and federal training issues, but travelers may opt out with no penalty. [Axios]

Moped Crackdown
D.C. Council proposed a new bill that would require mopeds to be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles at the point of purchase. They hope the law will crack down on dangerous moped riders, who are often unregistered. D.C. has seen a stark increase in mopeds, largely due to food delivery apps. [WTOP]
Homicides Down
Despite multiple recent shootings, a new police report shows that the MPD responded to 21% less homicides this year. They have only seen 56 cases as of May 1, as opposed to 71 this time last year. [FOX5, MPDC]
