‘Better’ Buses, Fewer Stops?

Metro’s new ‘Better Bus Network’ proposal could eliminate up to 600 bus stops. The plan aims to increase efficiency and add service to off-peak hours, but could increase distances between stops and end service in some areas. [ABC7]

Dog Owners Sue District Dogs

The owners of eight dogs killed in a flood at District Dogs last August are suing the owner Jacob Hensley. The lawsuit alleges Hensley knew the flood risk at the Rhode Island Ave NE location, having experienced three flash floods there before, and didn’t have an emergency plan to ensure the pets’ safety. Virginia Restores Confederate School Names

On Friday, Shenandoah County’s school board voted to restore the names of Confederate military leaders to a high school and an elementary school. The school board said the previous board had ignored popular sentiment when removing the names – Stonewall Jackson High School and Ashby Lee Elementary – in response to the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. Where Is It?

First, what was last week’s photo?

This is Roscoe the Rooster in Takoma Park! For 10 years, Roscoe roamed downtown Takoma, crossing the road whenever he pleased. No one knows where he came from, but residents gave him food and shelter and let him roam the streets at will.

Sadly, in 1999, Roscoe was the victim of a hit-and-run. So, the residents of Takoma banded together to place a statue of him in the town center. Even today, residents will “dress up” the statue in fun holiday garb. Roscoe’s legacy can be found all around Takoma, from Roscoe's Neapolitan Pizzeria to appearances in local advertisements and posters.

🏆 Congratulations to Liz T., Joelle R., and Catherine R. for guessing correctly first!

Now, onto this week’s challenge:

Can you guess where this food hall is? Bonus points if you tell me your favorite thing to eat there is. Asking for a friend 👀
