🚲 Conn. Ave bike lane revived
May 14, 2024 · 💌 Kaela
Hey neighbor. We have yet ANOTHER bear spotting, this time in North Arlington. This is the third black bear sighting in the DMV in less than two weeks. I knew D.C. could get wild, but not this kind of wild.

What's CITY Talking About?
Conn. Ave Bike Lane Revived
D.C. Council has revived the long-contested plan to bring bike lanes to Connecticut Avenue NW. The plan was reportedly killed in April, but Councilmembers Matthew Frumin and Charles Allen have added it to the city’s budget package, which is still subject to approval by the full council and Bowser. Advocates say bike lanes are needed for safety on the busy strip, but critics claim the lanes would increase traffic and reduce parking. [WTOP]

Marylanders, Go Vote!
Today is primary voting day in Maryland. The senate race has unusually high stakes this year, with Democratic candidates David Trone and Angela Alsobrooks looking to prove themselves as worthy opponents to former Republican Governor Larry Hogan. While Maryland has historically voted blue, Hogan had bipartisan support in the past. [ABC7]
Bowser’s Approval Ratings Drop
A new poll shows that Mayor Muriel Bowser’s approval ratings have dropped below a majority for the first time in her tenure. 46% of District residents now approve of Bowser’s work, down 12% from 2022. While the poll shows people feel positively about her work to revitalize downtown, residents gave her negative ratings for her work reducing crime and improving schools. [Washington Post 🔒]
