What's CITY Talking About?

New PG County Youth Curfew Law

Prince George’s County passed a bill that allows youth curfews in commercial zones following a slew of crimes. Property owners will be able to request curfews starting at 10 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends. Critics are concerned the law could unfairly target youth of color, while not investing in prevention tactics. [Washington Post 🔒]

Youngkin Tosses Environmental Standards

Gov. Glenn Youngkin says Virginia will not adhere to California's emissions standards. This would circumvent the congressionally set standard that would require 22% of next year’s Virginia’s vehicle sales to be zero-emissions. This is the second time Youngkin neglected environmental reforms, leading Democrats to accuse Youngkin of overstepping his bounds as Governor. [Washington Post 🔒]

DMV is Pro-Pet 🐶

A slew of new laws are looking to make life easier for pet owners throughout the DMV. Following last month's “Pets in Housing Act,” which would cap monthly pet fees in D.C., a new bill in Alexandria would allow renters to own up to five dogs! But landlords are worried they won’t be reimbursed for pet-caused property damage. [Axios]
