🌳 DC’s coolest new park is finally open
June 18, 2024 · 💌 Kaela
Hey Neighbor! A new study shows that D.C. has the highest density of Michelin restaurants of any city in the U.S., and the third highest in the world. Take that, New York!

What's CITY Talking About?
Moore Declares Cannabis Pardon
Gov. Wes Moore pardoned more than 175,000 convictions related to marijuana use, most of which were low-level charges like possession. Maryland legalized the use of recreational marijuana in 2022 and joins nine other states where officials have pardoned people with low-level marijuana offenses. [New York Times]
Reservoir Park Now Open
Mayor Bowser finally opened the new Reservoir Park Recreation Center at the defunct McMillan Sand Filtration Site. The city purchased the land 37 years ago, but faced decades of litigation and zoning disputes before finally landing on its design. The park and rec center is the first part of a development package that will include housing and retail space. [Washington Post 🔒]
Arlington Democratic Primary
Polls are open today from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Arlington’s Democratic primary. Five candidates — James DeVita, Julie Farnam, Natalie Roy, Tenley Peterson, and JD Spain — will compete for one open seat on the Arlington County Board. This will be the second year the county has used ranked choice voting. Go vote, Arlington! [ARLnow]
Speed Cameras Are Working
New city data shows speeding has dropped sharply on roads where speed cameras are installed. D.C. installed 140 new cameras since November as part of Bowser’s "Vision Zero" to reduce traffic fatalities. Speeding citations have gone down significantly, however traffic fatalities remain high.
