🔪 A murder mystery on Swann Street
August 6, 2024 · 💌 Kaela
Hey, neighbor. Sorry for the delay this morning! I've been thinking about how everyone looooves to hate on D.C., especially in the muggy summer months. It’s too humid, we're not fashionable, we're careerist snobs, etc., etc. But, here’s what the haters get wrong about our city.

What's CITY Talking About?
Major Fannie Mae Reversal
Mortgage firm Fannie Mae announced that it will keep half of its Downtown office space at Midtown Center. This is a huge turnaround from when it announced its plans to completely vacate the space earlier this year, which would have left almost three-quarters of the 900,000-square-foot property empty. Bison Basketball For Sale?
The Howard University men’s basketball coach is seeking an investor to put $100 million into the program. The proposal is unprecedented in college sports and looks to help the Bison compete with bigger schools as new rules threaten to enlarge funding gaps. [Washington Post 🔒]
Noah Lyles Tries For Second Gold
Prepare to root for Alexandrian track star Noah Lyles again this week as he makes his way to the 200m Olympic finals. He won his first-ever gold medal in the 100m race on Sunday and is cruising to the 200m semi-finals today after winning his heat yesterday. [USA Today]
New Compost Solution Comes To Arlington
Arlington is installing food disposal bins to make it easier for apartment dwellers to compost their scraps. So far, there are 14 locations which can be found and used through the Bigbelly Smart Compost. [ARLnow]
