Hey, friends! It is my civic duty to remind you that the Golden Bachelorette premieres at 8 p.m. tonight, and it stars Rockville’s own Joan Vassos. 🌹
Here’s what else is going on around the District.

What's CITY Talking About?

What Is a Violence Interrupter?
The D.C. police union wants to shut down the city’s violence intervention programs after Councilmember Trayon White was charged with bribery related to one of the programs. Dr. Joseph Richardson, a UMD professor and co-chair of D.C.’s Homicide Review, joined our podcast to talk about what exactly violence interrupters do for the city. [City Cast DC 🎧]
Rapid Rehousing Effort Stalls
The D.C. Council’s plan to fund new housing vouchers has hit a stalemate after Mayor Bowser’s administration revealed there’s not enough money to fund most of them due to a budgeting error. Both the Council and the administration are blaming each other for the mistake. [Washington Post 🔒]

More Restrooms Coming to the Mall
The National Park Service is adding 15 new “comfort stations,” nine of which will include food kiosks. Construction will be done in phases over 10 years, starting with the Lincoln Memorial sometime before 2026. [Washington Business Journal 🔒]
Council Launches Bribery Investigation
The D.C. Council voted yesterday to form an ad hoc committee to investigate bribery allegations against councilmember Trayon White, with a 90-day deadline to decide whether to expel him. DC Council also disbanded the Committee on Recreation, Libraries and Youth Affairs, which White chaired. He has pleaded not guilty to federal bribery charges. [WTOP, Washington Post 🔒]
