DC Council Wants Oversight for Violence Intervention Programs
Tony Lewis Jr., a prison rights activist, testified Monday in a DC Council hearing regarding D.C.’s violence intervention programs. On the City Cast DC podcast, Lewis Jr. said he was upset by the recent push to shut down such programs after the Trayon White bribery arrest. DC Council made no move to eliminate the programs but agreed that they need more oversight. [City Cast DC 🎧, Washington Post 🔒]
Kalorama Residents Fed Up With Protest Noise
Loud protests outside the Chinese ambassador's residence in Kalorama are upsetting residents, and they’re taking matters into their own hands. The noise levels reach 104 decibels, the equivalent of a freight train. Unfortunately for the residents, D.C.’s Noise Control Act does not apply to First Amendment demonstrations. [WUSA9]

MPD Investigates White Supremacy Ties on the Force
A D.C. auditor is investigating if any current MPD officers are white supremacists. Officers have been asked to identify colleagues who are affiliated with hate groups. Former D.C. police intelligence officer Shane Lamond was charged last year with aiding the Proud Boys. [NBC4]
