Montgomery County Installing Noise Cameras

Cameras are going up around Montgomery County to catch excessively loud cars. The pilot program was passed by the Montgomery County Council yesterday in an attempt to prevent noise pollution in the area. Any car that exceeds 85 decibels will get a warning, and ultimately, a fine. [NBC4]

VA Sued For Illegal Voting Practice

The Justice Department is suing Virginia over an executive order that removes ineligible voters off of voter rolls. The law is in violation of a legally required “90-day quiet period” before elections to prevent the wrongful removal of qualified voters. [WAMU]

DC Whistleblower Wins Big

A former D.C. government employee was awarded more than $3 million in damages after a local court determined she was fired for being a whistleblower. Maureen Hill was fired just months after she raised concerns about alleged contract-splitting at the Office of Contracting and Procurement. The government says her termination is unrelated, but the D.C. Superior Court jury didn’t buy it. [Washington Post 🔒]
