Like today’s City Cast DC podcast, about the lore surrounding D.C.’s creepiest cryptids, from Snallygaster to the Metro monster. Producer Ashe Durban dug into newspaper archives and decades of old reporting to lay out the evidence for and against four key myths.

What's CITY Talking About?

💸 A Bid to Buy Capital One Arena

After all the drama about whether the Washington Capitals and Wizards would stay in D.C. (for now, they are!), Mayor Bowser has proposed legislation to buy Capital One Arena for $87.5 million and then lease it back to Monumental Sports (the current landlord, who also owns the two teams) for $1.3 to $2.5 million a year until 2050. 🐔DC Schools Affected by Nationwide Listeria Outbreak

A recent nationwide listeria recall affects 13 schools in D.C., after over 12 million pounds of meat and poultry were recalled across the country. USDA released a list of the schools affected; none in MD or VA were included. [WTOP]

🚘 Another Week, Another Street Closure

This week, D.C. is hosting the IMF and World Bank annual meets. Check out all the streets that will be closed until this Saturday, and triple check to make sure you aren’t parked in violation of emergency no parking signs, or risk getting towed. [WTOP]
