Trayon White Replaces Lawyers
Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White replaced his high-profile lawyers with two public defenders to represent him in his bribery case. Sources say it is because of White’s inability to pay for the attorneys. [X]

Gas Stove Ban Has New Opponents
Multiple groups are suing D.C. and Montgomery County to prevent laws banning gas appliances in homes from taking effect. Washington Gas and other businesses say the laws don’t align with the needs or interests of their customers. [Washington Business Journal 🔒]

DC Teens On Trial for Gruesome Murder
Five local teenage girls are on trial in a murder case that has national attention. One of the girls, who stomped a man to death last year, says they did it because “we were bored.” [City Cast DC 🎧]
New Ice Rink Opening Downtown
The National Building Museum is launching a new indoor ice skating rink this winter as part of D.C.’s Downtown holiday market. It will be open to the public from Dec. 16 through Jan. 4. Skating will be free; skate rentals will be $5. [DC News Now]
