&pizza Apologizes for Marion Barry-Inspired Dessert
Local pizza chain &pizza has apologized for its insensitive dessert, "Marion Berry Knots," which was marketed in reference to former Mayor Marion Barry's drug conviction. The dessert caused public outrage and calls for a boycott before &Pizza CEO Mike Burns removed the dessert from the menu and issued an apology. [City Cast DC 🎧]
Vincent Gray No Longer Voting on Legislation
Ward 7 Councilmember Vince Gray announced yesterday that due to "early onset, age-related dementia," he has decided to stop voting on legislation so as to not "cast a vote on an issue which I may not be able to fully consider." Gray's term ends this year.
The ‘Love Is Blind’ Effect
The mega-popular reality TV show, whose current season is set in D.C., is boosting local businesses that were featured on the show. Some are seeing a 40% - 50% increase in business. [Axios]

Dozens of ANC Seats Without Candidates
With the election fast approaching, we still have 16% of Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners seats without candidates. That means many of the seats may be won by write-in candidates with as little as three or four votes. [WTOP]
Metro Ends Late-Night Commuter Program
Metro will end its ‘After-Hours Commuter Service Program,’ which provides late-night workers discounts on Lyft, on Oct. 31 due to the cost and the 14 new bus routes that are running 24/7. [NBC4]
