📢 DC restricts protest noise
October 31, 2024
Happy Halloween, neighbor! If you’re still looking for a last-minute costume, I have some D.C.-inspired recommendations. Otherwise, may the Halloween candy gods be ever in your favor 🤞 For me, this means lots of Reese's.

What's CITY Talking About?
DC Ramps Up Security Ahead of Election
The entire D.C. police force – all 3,300 eligible officers – are activated through at least Nov. 5, helping ensure a safe election process. Extra attention will be placed around voting centers and high-profile events. [Washington Post 🔒]

DC Restricts Amplified Noise
D.C. Council passed legislation that would stop protestors from making excessive noise in residential neighborhoods. Specifically, it bans using an amplified sound device to target a home at night. This comes after Kalorama residents complained over protests outside the Chinese ambassador’s home. [WTOP, WUSA9]
Supreme Court Allows VA Voter Purge
The Supreme Court is allowing Virginia to continue its purge of 1,600 voter registrations. Previously, state and federal courts ruled the move illegal so close to the election. [AP]
