What's CITY Talking About?
Georgetown Call Your Mother Saved
After much drama, the Georgetown Call Your Mother will be allowed to stay open after D.C.’s zoning board approved a special exception. Nearby residents said the location created “objectionable conditions” like loitering and pests. The bagel shop will now have to follow certain rules like no outdoor seating and closing by 2 p.m. [Washington Business Journal 🔒]
Plans To Replace the Bay Bridge
Maryland is replacing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and is looking for public feedback on the design. The state's transportation authority has six alternative plans for the bridge, all of which would expand it to eight or 10 lanes. [WTOP]

What Metrobus Has In Store for 2025
Next year, Metrobus is giving every bus in town a new name and developing several new routes. At the same time, it’s also trying to rework its funding model to stay afloat. Rachel Weiner from the Washington Post explains exactly how this will affect you. [City Cast DC 🔒]
Bowser Calls On Trump
Mayor Bowser reached out to President-elect Trump to request a meeting to discuss possible collaboration with the future president, who has repeatedly threatened D.C. home rule. Trump’s team has not responded, but Bowser said her team is preparing to “defend” D.C. from potential attacks on local autonomy. [Washington Post 🔒/Hey DC]
