🎒 DC Truancy rates drop to pre-pandemic levels
November 15, 2024 · 💌 Kaela
Hey, D.C. After the Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest in New York and the Dev Patel lookalike contest in San Francisco, does anyone else think D.C. is due for one? I’m convinced we’ll soon have Tony P. lookalikes in these streets.

What's CITY Talking About?
Truancy Back at Pre-Pandemic Levels
D.C. Public School truancy levels have dropped to pre-pandemic numbers. Truancy – the number of kids having 10 or more unexcused absences per year – fell from 37% last year to 30% today. This is a big comeback after D.C. struggled with some of the highest absentee rates in the country. [Washington Post 🔒/City Cast DC]
Walking Pneumonia Spike
D.C. is experiencing an ‘unprecedented’ spike in walking pneumonia cases, a 358% increase from this time last year. The largest increase is in kids 10 - 17 years old. So, mask up, wash your hands, and stay home when sick. [WTOP]

A Musk in the Swamp
President-elect Donald Trump announced that billionaire tech bro Elon Musk will join his entourage in D.C. Musk will head up Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency, which could move 100,000 federal workers out of the city and fire many more. [City Cast DC 🎧]
Arlington Apartment Prices Surpass DC
Arlington now has the priciest apartments in the D.C. region. A median one-bedroom goes for $2,410 a month, a 5.2% increase from last year, pushing D.C. into second place. Just another reason to live in D.C. proper, that’s all. [ARLnow]
