💻 Federal workers to return to office

November 25, 2024 · 💌 Kaela

Gobble gobble, neighbor! Today is the national Thanksgiving turkey pardoning. These birds are no normal turkeys. They stay in a luxe suite at the Willard Hotel, walk a red carpet, and perform a bunch of other odd traditions.

What's CITY Talking About?

Ramaswamy Wants You Back in the Office

Vivek Ramaswamy, co-leader of Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency, told federal workers that they will return to work "five days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m." This comes after President-elect Trump said he would move 100,000 federal workers out of the District. [Axios]

Inauguration Day DC Airbnb Blackout

Some local Airbnb hosts are taking their rentals off the market for inauguration weekend in protest of President-Elect Trump and his “intentions to take over D.C.” The group is asking others to block off their listings or increase their prices and donate the profits to liberal causes. Explore A Hidden Cave, Then Refuel At A Restaurant And Taphouse In This Underrated Maryland Town

Crystal Grottoes Caverns / Facebook

In the mood for an unexpected Maryland adventure? While there are a million and one ways to spend a day exploring around the Old Line State, today we have an extra unique day trip for you! The following adventure in Washington County begins with a wondrous cave and ends with a meal at one of the best restaurants in the area.

There's nothing better than chowing down on a filling meal after going on an outdoorsy adventure, and that's exactly what we have planned. The best part is that the following two locations are only a six-minute drive from one another.

Now, wait a minute … there are caves in Maryland? Yes, there are!

The adventure begins at Crystal Grottoes Caverns, located in Boonsboro, Maryland. The caverns were discovered in 1920 and have been open to tourists for decades. But this isn't just any ordinary cave. It has more formations per square foot than any cave known to man. All ages can enjoy this fascinating tour. Don't forget to bring a jacket — the caverns are a crisp 54 degrees all year long. The cost varies by age group, so plan accordingly.

Branded Chophouse/Facebook

After a bit of cave exploring, drive just six minutes down the road to Branded Chophouse on Old National Pike. Branded Chophouse is one of the highest-rated restaurants in the area and for good reason. The food options are unique, flavorful, and best of all, filling. Consider starting with some salted truffle fries or fresh-baked bread. Along with the regular menu items, the restaurant also offers specials, so there's always something new to try. Pair your meal with a brew or glass of wine. There are plenty of craft beer options, so take your pick! Or have a flight and try a handful at a time.

After eating your fill at Branded, continue your Boonsboro journey by exploring the local antique shops or by visiting the nearby parks. Washington Monument State Park is just a drive away and has one of the best overlook views in the state.
