Mandatory Training for Charter School Admin
DC Council is considering mandating that charter school board members undergo annual training on fiscal management and operations. Almost half of D.C.’s public school students attend charter schools, and one shut down just days before the new school year this summer. [Washington Post 🔒]
Police Nab Mail Thief
Prosecutors have charged a 25-year-old with stealing postal workers’ master keys and then mail from 10 luxury apartment complexes across the DMV. Ibrahim Emmanuel De La Cruz allegedly used personal information from the stolen mail to open bank accounts and credit cards in other people’s names. He also apparently bragged about his exploits in a YouTube rap video. [Washington Post 🔒]
