What's CITY Talking About?

DC Renames Bills To Avoid GOP Scrutiny

D.C. lawmakers are changing the names of several bills in an attempt to avoid GOP backlash as Republicans take control of Congress and the White House. Football Scandal Shakes NoVa

Hayfield High School’s football team was disqualified from the playoffs after being accused of bringing in players from other schools. The NoVa team had been winning games by 75 points before a local publication unearthed the scandal. [City Cast DC 🎧]

Rock Creek Park Catches Fire

A fire in Rock Creek Park on Sunday left at least one firefighter in the hospital. This is the second brush fire recently. Last week’s wind and dry weather meant that fire danger in the DMV was higher than usual. [WTOP]

Senate Has Days Left To Confirm DC Judges

With two weeks left before Congressional recess, the Senate has yet to confirm D.C.’s 10 judgeship nominees. D.C courts are horribly backlogged, forcing judges to triage. If Senate doesn’t confirm them by Dec. 20, the nomination commission must restart the lengthy nominating process over again. [Washington Post 🔒]
