What's CITY Talking About?
Metro Goes Automatic
Metro is switching back to an automated system for the first time in 15 years. Trains will be spaced and timed using a computer rather than human operation, decreasing train times and saving Metro an estimated $7 million a year. The switch could begin with the Red Line as soon as this Sunday. [Washington Post 🔒]
Co-Living Coming To CoHi
A Belgian co-living developer opened a new property in Columbia Heights and has five more on the way. The building has seven “units,” each with several bedrooms and a shared community space. Bedrooms, ranging from 74 to 160 square feet, rent between $1,650 and $2,000 a month. [Washington Business Journal 🔒]
Ward 8 Healthy Living Center Opens
A center promoting nutritional education has opened in the Anacostia Giant — Ward 8’s only grocery store. The center hosts in-person and virtual programming and includes a community space. [WTOP]

DC’s Coziest Bars and Fireplaces
The cold and rain this week is enough to make anyone want to snuggle up in an armchair by the fire. The City Cast team put together a collection of cozy winter spots where you can drink, eat, and hang out until the weather turns. [City Cast DC 🎧]
