GOP Scrapping Spending Bill, and RFK Bill With It

President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and several Republican congresspeople are now opposing the once-bipartisan spending bill lawmakers had agreed on earlier this week. Musk specifically railed against the provision giving D.C. renewed control over RFK stadium. Congress must pass a new budget before Saturday to prevent a government shutdown. [Washington Post 🔒]

DC Council Closes Year With 10+ New Bills

The DC Council wrapped up its 2024 session by passing a flurry of bills that would have expired at the end of the year. Rockville High School Addresses Racist Incidents

Infamous ‘90s Drug Lord Dies

D.C. cocaine kingpin Rayful Edmond has died at the age of 60. Edmond was convicted of running a highly successful cocaine ring in the ‘80s that was largely blamed for D.C.’s sky-high murder rate. He was released on parole a few months ago after 35 years in prison. [NBC4]

Restaurant Bans Patrons Under 30

A Mediterranean restaurant on Capitol Hill, Café 8, is banning patrons under 30 after 8:30 p.m. in an attempt to keep noise and crime down around area. But it is unclear if it’s legal under D.C.’s Human Rights Act. [Washington Post 🔒]
