Snowball ‘Fight’ Erupts During Snowstorm
A massive crowd of residents and snow-throwing enthusiasts gathered in Northwest D.C. to hurl snowballs at their friends and frenemies. The first mega snowball fight took place in D.C. in 2010, and has since been organized by the D.C. Snowball Fight Association. [NBC4]
New Nonprofit Takes Over DC’s Animal Care Services
D.C. is teaming up with Delaware-based nonprofit Brandywine Valley SPCA to handle duties previously held by Humane Rescue Alliance. They will operate a New York Avenue shelter, an Ivy City retail space and adoption center, and an operations hub. [Axios]

Washington Post to Lay Off Dozens
The Washington Post is expected to dismiss dozens of employees in the coming week. The paper has seen prominent resignations and lost thousands of subscribers since owner Jeff Bezos buried a planned endorsement of Kamala Harris for president. [The Guardian]
New Memorial Approved for National Mall
After four years of review, a monument commemorating the 19th Amendment has been officially approved for construction on the National Mall. The sponsors, Women's Suffrage National Monument Foundation, are aiming for construction at Constitution Gardens. But we may still not see this built for years. [Washington Business Journal 🔒]
