Egg prices are at a record high — around $6-$9 for a dozen large — if they are on the shelves at all. A severe bird flu outbreak combined with holiday baking season has caused a shortage, and many local grocery stores are limiting how many eggs you can buy. 11 DC Schools Without Heat

It is frigid outside, and as of Friday, at least 11 D.C. schools didn’t have heat in at least part of their buildings. The school district has developed some temporary heating solutions and is dispatching contractors to initiate long-term repairs. [ABC7]

US Sued for Polluting Anacostia River

D.C.’s Attorney General is suing the U.S. for alleged deliberate and ongoing pollution of the Anacostia River for over 150 years. The lawsuit claims federal agencies used the river as a toxic waste dump and requires them to pay to clean it up. [Attorney General’s Office]

Pizzagate Gunman Killed By Police

Edgar Maddison Welch, known as the ‘Pizzagate’ gunman, was fatally shot outside Charlotte by two police officers. They say he threatened them.
