What's CITY Talking About?
Inauguration Weekend Protests Slow
About 50,000 people are expected to attend a protest on Saturday, just two days before Trump’s inauguration. "People's March” organizers worry the new administration will undermine Americans’ civil rights. The National Parks Service is still processing permits for other planned weekend protests, though they expect smaller numbers than Trump’s last inauguration. Tickets for the inauguration itself have been flying off the shelves. [Washington Post 🔒]
Main Breaks Lead to Water Shortage
Utilities company WSSC Water is asking D.C.-area residents to limit their water use while they repair 63 water main breaks and leaks. Residents in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties have been told to save water for essential use only. [WTOP]
Trump May Reclaim Waldorf Astoria
President-Elect Donald Trump is reportedly in talks to buy back the Waldorf Astoria. Trump owned the hotel from 2012 until 2022, during which time it served as a base for Republicans and foreign dignitaries during his first term. [Wall Street Journal 🔒]
