Federal Authorities Investigate DCA Plane Crash

Crews will start lifting the American Airlines jet from the bottom of the Potomac today. Meanwhile, investigators have recovered the cockpit recorders from both aircrafts and hope they'll illuminate the cause of the tragic plane collision on Wednesday night. The incident has many people wondering if DCA's congested air space inherently poses a safety risk. [City Cast DC 🎧, Washington Post 🔒]

  • Recovery Crew Update: As of Sunday night, responders had recovered the bodies of 55 of the 67 victims of the crash. [NPR]

Hospitals Stop Hormonal Care to Trans Kids

Children’s National Hospital and several other local hospitals suspended all new prescriptions, medications, and refills to trans minors this week in accordance with Trump’s executive order. In a statement, Children’s National said they would work to “navigate this evolving situation.” [Washington Post 🔒]

Shopping Cart Killer Convicted

A jury recommended four life sentences for Anthony Eugene Robinson, dubbed the “shopping cart killer,” who killed two women in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 2021. He is also on trial for several unsolved deaths in D.C. and Fairfax County, which all involve dead bodies left in shopping carts. [WTOP]

Barnes & Noble Comes Downtown

D.C. is getting another Barnes & Noble, this time near Metro Center. The book retailer opened a massive storefront in Georgetown last October, the first since closing all its D.C. locations 10 years ago. [Washingtonian]
