⏱️ Federal worker ‘buyout’ deadline postponed

February 7, 2025 · 💌 Kaela

Hey, D.C.! I’ve got four City Cast DC tote bags to give away to the first four folks who join our membership program today! These are the final totes we’ve got and we won’t be ordering more.

There’s a big difference between the polarizing battles that get our blood boiling in the national media, and the much more immediate conversations playing out on our blocks and in our neighborhoods. City Cast DC exists because we know that local is more important than ever.

So, if you’re looking for a way to invest back into your community, we’d love to have you as a City Cast DC member. Our work is only possible through your kind support.

Include your mailing address at checkout so we can send you lucky four a tote. Totes will be mailed out within two weeks of joining.

Move To Overturn Home Rule

Republican Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) introduced legislation yesterday to repeal D.C. home rule. The bill, cheekily titled the Bringing Oversight to Washington and Safety to Every Resident (BOWSER) Act, would put Congress in direct control over everything from trash collection to schools. 🥄 No Fork In My Road

Spoons, specifically spoon emojis, have become the newest symbol of federal employees' resistance to Trump and Musk. The bit came as a response to the now infamous “Fork in the Road” email meant to convince workers to resign. Now the little emoji has taken over federal Slack channels.
