Trump Tightens Grip on DC
President Trump threw his support behind congressional efforts to take over D.C. He complained about crime and homelessness in the area, saying that city officials were not doing their jobs. "I think we should take over Washington, D.C. — make it safe," Trump said. [City Cast DC 🎧]
Audi Field Expansion
Soccer team D.C. United wants to expand Audi Field by 10,000 seats and add a roof. Planners claim the roof could enable 100 more events at the stadium each year. Nats Park and Capital One Arena are also trying to make upgrades. [Axios]
Adams Morgan Reentry Housing Moves Forward
D.C. Council has approved a contract to subsidize an Adams Morgan housing project for formerly incarcerated people. The $33 million contract will provide 18 permanently affordable reentry housing units. [Washington Business Journal 🔒 )
ONSE Deputy Charged With Bribery
The former deputy director of D.C’s Office of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement, Dana McDaniel, has been charged with bribery. McDaniel allegedly accepted $10,000 in cash in exchange for using her position to steer government contracts towards certain businesses. [WUSA9]
- This is the second high-ranking official in D.C. to face bribery charges recently. Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White was expelled from D.C. Council for violating its ethics rules earlier this month. [City Cast DC 🎧]
