🫤 Congressional spending bill in limbo
March 13, 2025 · 💌 Kaela
Hey, neighbor! D.C. has a bunch of unspoken rules that if you know, you know. And if you don’t, you should. Is it Malcolm X Park or Meridian Hill Park? Is it Reagan National Airport or DCA? ClockoutDC’s Jade Womack and Greater Greater Washington’s Dan Reed gave us a crash course 👇

What's CITY Talking About?
Congressional Funding Bill Still In Limbo
Senate Democrats say there aren't yet enough votes to pass the congressional funding bill that would cut $1B from D.C.’s budget. The bill, meant to help avoid a government shutdown this weekend, passed the House on Tuesday, but Dems are pushing for adjustments before moving it forward. [Axios]

Fairfax Considers Controversial Food Tax
Fairfax is considering a new food tax that would apply to everything from sit-down restaurants to gas station hot dogs. Residents rejected a food and beverage tax twice previously, but the county is facing a $300 million budget shortfall. [ABC7]
New Helicopter Restrictions at DCA
The National Transportation Safety Board recommended permanently banning helicopter traffic near DCA when runways 15 and 33 are in use. The recommendation comes after D.C.’s deadliest plane crash in decades on January 29. [Axios]
Infamous Walgreens Robbers Plead Guilty
The group accused of robbing the Chinatown Walgreens seven times in nine months just pleaded guilty. The four defendants, including a manager at the Walgreens and his nephew, stole at least $28,983 in cash and face up to 20 years in prison each. [WTOP]
