The Trump administration fired nearly all U.S.-based employees at the United States Institute of Peace, and has plans to fire remaining overseas employees. Two weeks ago, DOGE forcibly entered the D.C. headquarters and removed the government-funded think tank’s president. [NPR]

Trayon White Chases City Council Seat

Expelled DC Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White announced he will re-run for his old seat come the special election in July. [ABC7]

  • D.C. Council unanimously voted to expel White after he allegedly accepted bribes for influencing contracts related to local violence intervention services. White is pleading not guilty. [City Cast DC 🎧]

Another Bribery Scandal Hits DC’s Anti-Violence Agency

A former official at D.C.'s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement pleaded guilty of bribery. Dana McDaniel accepted $10,000 in exchange for directing contracts toward an associate’s business. This is the same department involved in the Trayon White case. [Washington Post 🔒]

DC-Based Venezuelan Couple Released

A local Venezuelan couple detained by immigration authorities twice this month were released after a federal judge called their apprehensions baseless and unlawful. The couple has legal temporary protected status to live in the U.S. [Washington Post 🔒]
