🎟️ DC Council wants to end ticket scalping
April 10, 2025 · 💌 Kaela
Hey, neighbor. Anybody else crashing out going to "controversial" Smithsonian exhibits before they’re gone? Today on the City Cast DC podcast, we’re talking about Trump’s threats against the museums and if he can actually follow through with them.

What's CITY Talking About?
Eden Center Shaken by Tariff Scare
President Trump's tariff whiplash has rattled business owners at Eden Center — a Falls Church Vietnamese hub — causing many to rethink their pricing and worry over the future. The center has over 120 family-owned businesses that mainly sell imported goods from Vietnam and China. [ARLNow]
- ‼️ On tomorrow’s City Cast DC podcast, we’ll be talking about how D.C.’s dealing with the tariff news. How is it affecting you — your spending habits, dreams of homeownership, mental state? Drop us a voicemail, or an email.
Safety Commission Halts Automated Train Expansion
The safety commission that oversees Metro says it would not allow any more automated trains unless Metro reduces the number of Red Line trains overrunning the platform. The Automatic Train Operation is supposed to make Metro faster and smoother, but trains using the system have overrun platforms 221 times since December. [ABC7]
DC Moves to Eliminate Concert Ticket Scalpers
D.C.’s concert venues are strongly supporting a new bill presented by Councilmember Charles Allen that would ban scalpers selling overpriced “speculative tickets” before they even have them. Venues say this kind of price gouging ultimately hurts the local music ecosystem. [Washington Post 🔒]
Trump Administration Drops 700 Federal Leases
The federal government has canceled 700 building leases already this year to slim down the government footprint by 50%. The administration is also starting to rapidly sell off offices. [WTOP]
