💰 The economics of RFK stadium
April 14, 2025 · 💌 Kaela
Hey. D.C. Metro is having a cherry blossom clothing pop-up shop in collaboration with artist Chris Pyrate. When I tell you the hoodie is a need, not a want. The shop is open until May 3, near L’Enfant Plaza.

What's CITY Talking About?
Metro’s Considers Automation on Green Line
Metro wants to roll out automated trains through the entire system, starting with the green line next. It says automation could save $7 million and four minutes per train run. However, WMATA’s safety commission first wants to investigate the Red Line trial that resulted in at least 200 trains overrunning the platform. [WUSA9]
New Art Gallery at Cap One Arena
The newly designed Capital One Arena will display hundreds of District-centric artworks as part of a living gallery called the “District Arts Collection.” The upgrades are expected to be complete in time for the 2027-28 season. [WTOP]

The Questionable Economics of RFK Stadium
The mayor’s office is reportedly continuing talks to build RFK Stadium, despite the $1B hole in D.C.’s current budget (thanks, Congress). But even if that gets resolved, some economists say the costs of a new stadium could be too high to be worth it. [City Cast DC 🎧]
