June 11, 2025 · 💌 Kaela
Hey, neighbor! The notorious D.C. summer heat is officially upon us, which means it’s time to get out of town. We chatted with cheap flight expert Scott Keyes from Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) on all the best travel deals this summer from the DMV.

What's CITY Talking About?

Army Parade Road Closures
Officials have announced mass street closures for the Army’s 250th anniversary parade on Saturday, with some starting as early as today. Expect everything around the National Mall, White House, and Arlington Cemetery will be off limits until early Monday morning. [MPD]
- Catch Up: Tanks, rocket launchers, and military aircrafts have been rolling into D.C. all week in preparation for the $45 million parade. One-third of that cost will be for post-parade street repairs. [Axios]
House Reviews Three DC Bills
The House of Representatives is voting on three bills this week that, if passed, would repeal some local D.C. laws.
- One would repeal noncitizen voting in local elections.
- One would stay D.C.’s sanctuary city laws, which prevent local police from cooperating with federal immigration agencies.
- The last would reinstate practices that can shield police from disciplinary action. [Washingtonian]
Local Leaders Consider Removing RFK Deal
The D.C. Council met in private yesterday to discuss whether to take the RFK stadium deal out of the District’s 2026 budget. D.C. has to come to an agreement by July 15, or the Commanders can turn to other bidders. [NBC4]
