With the number one overall pick in last night's MLB draft, the Nationals selected Oklahoma 17-year-old shortstop Eli Willits, the youngest in his draft class. The last time the Nats held the first overall pick was in 2010, when they drafted now-famed first baseman Bryce Harper. [MLB]
Mass Layoffs At State Department
On Friday, the State Department began firing more than 1,300 people, as part of a new consolidation plan. The majority of the layoffs consist of civil servants, many of whom are located in the DMV. [CNN]
